SHARAN (PAN): Officials in the southeastern province of Paktika claimed on Wednesday nine militants were killed in a joint operation by Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and police.

Governor's spokesman, Hamidullah Zhwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News the overnight offensive was conducted in Sarmaidan area of Zeruk district. An insurgent hideout was also destroyed during the sweep.

The joint force suffered no casualties during the operation, in which a rocket-launcher, two machine guns, five Klashnikov assault rifles, a car and three motorbikes were seized from guerrillas.
