Nasiri tribe vows support to Ahmadzai

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Nasiri tribal council of southern Ghazni province on Monday announced support to presidential runner Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in the runoff polls.
At a gathering attended by hundreds of people in Kabul, the council head, Haji Najibullah Nasiri, said his tribe had decided to back Ahmadzai, who was a man of principle and competence.
He added his tribe would support Ahmadzai’s team in the larger interest of the country. “Once we used our fingers to pull the trigger and defend our motherland. Now we will use the same finger to reshape the fate of our country.”
Other members of the council urged Ahmadzai to forge unity, build peace, strengthen the economy, create employment opportunities and develop the country’s ailing education sector if he was elected as president.
Ahmadzai assured the gathering he would delegate powers to people at the grassroots level if he was elected as head of state.
Calling fraud and rigging the enemy number one of the democratic process, he asked supporters to closely monitor the election process.
