Tight security in place for elections: Gen Fazli

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The border police commander in the eastern zone, Gen Shafiq Fazli, on Thursday said tight security measures had been put in place for the upcoming runoff election.
While introducing Gen. Mohammad Mamozai as new commander of the 301st border zone, Fazli told reporters that they had devised and implemented new plans for improving security in border areas.
Afghanistan’s enemies had used all their power to disrupt the election process in the first round but their plots were foiled, he claimed, saying they would try more to improve security and hold the July 14 vote in a peaceful environment.
About Pakistan’s shelling into Kunar province, Fazli said that they were ready for any kind of response to aggression, but awaited orders from the central governance.
He added that the outgoing border police commander would serve as advisor to the contingent.
