KABUL (Pajhwok): The Election Media Commission on Saturday said a number of news organisations did a good job during the silence period, campaigned for a particular candidate on the voting day.
The silence period started at the end of the election campaign and 48 hours ahead of the voting process. No one reserved the right to campaign during the period.
Speaking to journalists, Election Media Commission deputy head Hashmatullah Radfar said a number of news outlets campaigned for one particular candidate.
He did not name the outlets, but said they would be prosecuted under the media law.
The media reported on rigging and security incidents that led to a lower turnout, Radfar said, insisting the outlets should have avoided reporting on explosions and militant attacks.
