Ballots from 131 sites to be quarantined

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Officials of the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) in northern Kunduz province on Wednesday said ballot boxes from more than 130 polling centres would be quarantined in the wake of alleged fraud in some districts.
IECC Director Sibghatullah Wafayee told a press conference that ballot boxes from 131 of the 216 polling centres in Aliabad, Khanabad and Imam Sahib, Qala-i-Zal, Chardara, and Dasht-i-Archi would be quarantined.
He said illegal practices such as ballot stuffing and taking ballot boxes from one site to another were among major fraud cases -- an issue shared with the IEC provincial office.
He said 52 complaints had been registered against Dr. Abdullah, 43 against Dr. Ghani teams and 17 against others. He added: “51 complaints are regarding ballot stuffing. If found valid, the objections could affect results.”
