"بعضى افراد غيرمتخصص به کابينۀ جديد معرفى خواهند شد"

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some Meshrano Jirga members on Sunday asked the government to introduce individuals as Cabinet nominees who had the ability to eliminate administrative corruption.

Senator Gul Ahmad Azami hoped the government’s executive branch would ensure that good governance and transparency in administration prevailed.

He said the successful conduct of London Conference on Afghanistan showed the international community was committed to continuing to assist Afghanistan.

The two day London Conference was aimed at renewing financial support to Afghanistan. Jointly hosted by governments of Afghanistan and the UK, the conference was addressed by President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah, UK and Pakistani prime ministers.

Representatives from 50 countries and 25 international organizations also attended the conference.

Azami said some leaked reports claimed unqualified and inexperienced persons were being named as Cabinet members. He stressed the introduction of new faces having a clean record.

Senator Zalmai Zabuli also said claimed receiving reports that some previous members of the Cabinet were being introduced again despite their involvement in corruption.

After being sworn-in on Sept. 29, President Ashraf Ghani promised to introduce his Cabinet within 45 days. He had promised naming new faces, including four women, as ministers-designate.

Lawmaker Balqis Roshan said the president should focus on the country’s internal affairs instead of excessive foreign visits seeking agreements with foreign countries.

Senate chairman Fazl Hadi Muslimyar asked leaders of the unity government to introduce Cabinet picks at the earliest in order to restore people’s trust.
