KABUL (Pajhwok): Independent Election Commission (AIEC) chief Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani on Saturday resigned from his post, an official said.
Deputy presidential spokesman, Syed Zafar Hashimi, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Nuristani’s resignation was accepted by President Ashraf Ghani.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said Nuristani presented his resignation letter to the president after realizing the country’s political and social situation and for the sack of national interest and returning to the social prosperity and stability of Afghanistan.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Under the new presidential decree on electoral reform, a new selection committee would be established to pave the way for replacing officials of the two electoral bodies, an official said on Sunday.
Syed Zafar Hashimi, the deputy spokesman for the Presidential Palace, told Pajhwok Afghan News the new legislative decree was enforceable since its signing by the president.
A BBC report says President Ghani has signed the law on composition, duties, responsibilities and authorities of the election commissions about 12 days ago.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The presidential decree on electoral reform would be published soon in the Ministry of Justice’s website and the government gazette and a tree-pillar meeting would be conducted to resolve women’s problems, a presidential spokesman said on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference here, deputy presidential spokesman Syed Zafar Hashimi said President Ashraf Ghani had promised representatives of women’s organizations solution to women issues.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) chief on Thursday said he would not accept any new post if merely aimed at ousting him from the IECC.
In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Abdul Sattar Sadat said immense pressure from international organizations prevented the Independent Election Commission (IEC) from announcing detailed results of the 2014 presidential elections.
He said holding parliamentary and district council elections would be impossible next solar year if the security situation further worsened or not improved.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Returning from a 45-day winter break, the Meshrano Jirga or upper house of parliament on Monday decided not to hold the house administrative board’s elections for next legislative session.
But a parliamentary group warned the house management would be disrupted if the board elections did not take place in-time.
The Meshrano Jirga on January 17 decided not to conduct the administrative board elections until two-thirds of new members of the upper house were introduced.
