KABUL (Pajhwok): Canada’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Deborah A. Lyons has said religious scholars have a leading role to play in creating awareness among women about their participation and right to vote in the historic Afghan elections.
In her exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, she said Afghans had a great respect for religious leaders, who could play a crucial role in ensuring a credible turnout.

BRUSSELS (Pajhwok):  NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Thursday said the alliance was planning to support Afghanistan with a new mission to train, advise and assist its security forces after 2014. 
“But we need to be very clear. Finalizing the planning for our new mission depends upon completing the NATO Status of Forces Agreement,” the NATO chief told defence ministers on the second and last day of their meeting here.

WASHINGTON (Pajhwok): Ahead of the presidential elections, a group of leading foreign policy experts and women's rights advocates has come together to form the Coalition for Afghan Democracy.
"We know that the best way to help turn the page on a new, democratic Afghan future is for the US to play an active and engaged role," said Hamed Wardak, an Afghan-American business owner and the coalition's founder.

KABUL (Pajhwok): A new US military commander, taking International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Joint Command, on Saturday pledged support for the April 5 presidential and provincial elections.
Lt. Gen. Joseph Anderson, who replaced his fellow American Lt. Gen. Mark Milley, said: "The immediacy is supporting the elections and earlier fighting season and getting through all that.”
